This week I wanted to focus on getting a section of detailing done and work on adding in textures for the walls. My plan for the project was to work in sections to keep some order to my work flow and I wanted to start by completing the biggest thing, the walls, floor, ceiling, windows and doors. From my research I could see there's lots of detailing on the walls, whether its built in, picture frames or ornaments. The main goal for this week was to get a good start on the built in detailing. I started on the back section where creating the trim around the middle of the wall would help with my texturing. I separated the two halves of the wall so I could apply the two different paint textures, both of which I made in substance designer like I had the purple paint. I then modelled the trim and imported everything into engine to texture.

I then started work on the door detailing. I used my references to get them looking as close to the original doors as possible. At this point I had to start thinking of what I wanted to do with the fogged up windows at the top of the doors since I wasn't building the room on the other side so wanted to consider how I could still give them a feeling of transparency but still have accurate lighting and not be able to see there's nothing behind it.

After modelling them I realised they were too large for my scale compared to my other furniture objects and ceiling so I ended up decreasing their size. I also adjusted the floor and ceiling to fit the doors without a gap.

I then moved onto the wall detailing, specifically these built in square accents on the majority of the walls. I used the doors and the various pieces of furniture around to scale them and made them as repeatable as possible without ruining the proportions of the sides of the square. My next step for the wall detailing will be putting in the skirting boards.

I them imported these into unreal and textured them accordingly.

I have been updating and working through my Trello board consistently throughout the week.

My priority for next week is to completely finish the walls, doors and floor. This includes wall lamps, I found a video on emissive materials and wanted to include one of those for my lamp, I also thought and emissive glowing texture would be a good idea for the windows above the doors to give the impression there is something behind there. I want to have made the floor texture which I think will take a bit of time since its quite an uncommon wood pattern. My stretch goal for the next week will be to have modelled the picture frames and ornaments on the walls as well as the built in elements.
