Week nine - Making some smaller assets

The first things I worked on this week were some 'medium sized assets'. The main ones I wanted to do were the kitchen chairs and the pot rack since I thought the chairs really added to the scene and the pot racks placement and size would come in handy when creating the smaller kitchen assets which I was planning to do next. I also blocked in some pillows on the couch and chairs.

I created some new lists in my Trello board to help me keep track of what I needed to model. I found it helped to open up my references and list all the things in a certain area, then to list them in order of priority/which things I thought it best to work on first. Again, I decided to mainly work in sections this week to help me keep focused.

I then started modelling some of the smaller assets starting in the kitchen. I started on the bar/counter and then moved onto the kitchen side where most of the bigger appliances/objects were. I tried to make them semi refined but will hopefully go back later in the process to refine everything completely. While I was working through these sections I also refined some of the existing assets like adding bevels where I hadn't before and I will continue this detailing of the existing assets as I make my way through the sections of the project working on the smaller assets.

I imported everything into unreal and added my colour block textures.

I continued adding to my Trello board and updating it when completing a task.

Next week I'm going to be continuing on with the smaller kitchen assets. I'm going to try to finish all the items on the side, sink, oven and small table. I would also like to remodel the fridge since I wasn't happy with it originally and maybe start work on the items for the kitchen shelves. I also would like the reassess if I need any more colour block colours, for example I think a yellow is needed so will be making that also.
