Week nine - Creating a brick texture and importing it and my sign texture into unreal

I used substance design to create my brick texture since I wanted to make my own without using a like a substance painter pre-set. This wasn't as clean as I wanted it to be and I found it quite difficult since I was new to the program and texturing in general. However, now I know for future reference I need to work on my designer skills ready for future projects.

I imported the brick texture into unreal just by exporting it from substance design and then dragging it into the content browser from its file location.

I then connected the necessary nodes to create a new material on unreal.

I dragged my new brick material onto the necessary sections, I noticed the texturing was quite off and I would need to go back and adjust my uv's to make the textures seamless and the same size.

While in the process of adjusting the uv's, I imported my sign's mesh and textures from substance painter. I repeated the step of creating new materials for the textures and then dragged them onto my sign.

I am still in the process of finishing my uv's for the brick sections and I have done the bottom floor and half the middle floor. I will continue with the rest during the beginning of next week. Something I learned during this process is the tip of breaking some parts into squares so they fit in the uv square better. I did this for the walls and I felt it worked really well and made the textures alot cleaner and uniform.
